American Burgers are "Fear Food"

In a Japanese game show called, "Disgusting", contestants must eat the most disgusting foods from around the world to win prizes. One of the worst foods that really grosses contestants out is a North American staple, the double cheese burger. Described by the game show host as, "Dead cow meat, fried in grease, with processed orange cow product, chemically treated vegetables, and synthetic flavor liquids." The cheese burger invariably makes contestants gag as they try to chew a mouthful, and many vomit in the special vomit buckets that reside by the table. If they vomit they are however disqualified.

The brainchild of Yukio Zeudo, the show is in its fourth season and continually ranks in the top ten. "I got the idea from the US show Fear Factor." says Yukio, "Those contestants were always gagging over traditional Asian delicacies and I realized Asians would equally gag over American traditional cuisine. Even many Americans I talk to say they feel quite ill after eating American fast food."

Many Americans who were visiting Japan said they were incensed that their favorite food was being portrayed this way. "I think they must add stuff to make it disgusting. How could anyone be disgusted by a double cheese burger?" said Ida Delidly of Delaware, Washington, who weighs in at 213 pounds. But Yukio says all the cheese burgers are flown in from a major American burger chain and served just like Americans like them.

As the Jimi Hendrix "burnt" guitar goes on the auction block, ARLDN thought it was time to bring back Shane Galway's infamous performance of Spick and Span at the Shiva Fesitival, in Dublin.

It was December 12th, 1999, and the turn of the century was drawing near. The Millennium Bug was big news, as was the fact that bands everywhere were smashing their guitars on stage in a spate of destruction not seen since the 60's with Hendrix and The Who.

One lone voice protested this wanton destruction, Shane Galway, who claimed, "I love my guitar. Guitars should be respected." As the 3rd act of the night Shane mounted the stage with his band and launched into his performance of the ground-breaking song Spick and Span. For three minutes he lovingly cleaned his guitar. Cheers from the audience quickly turned to boos and Shane left the stage without finishing his set.

It was the end of Shane Galway's career, a man who had enjoyed moderate success with his cover tunes of the famous Irish band Tir Na Nog. We tried to reach Shane for an interview but his mum said he wasn't interested in reliving the past.

This is one of the few remaining copies of this performance and our thanks goes to Irish Broadcasting for opening up their vaults and letting us show it. We did some digital enhancement of the video and though the sound is poor and the image still dark, it let's us witness what is now hailed as one of the great post modern performances ever made by a musician.

Jimi Hendrix Urinal To Fetch Princely Sum

Ernest Garbrother of East Wapping has announced he will be selling the urinal that Jimi Hendrix pissed in. With the excitement around the "other" auction of Hendrix's burnt guitar, Ernest suspects the urinal will also draw huge bidding.

Garbrother owned a hotel back then and still clearly remembers the night Jimi and his friends stayed there. "I remember they were drinking a lot so I am 100% certain he pissed in it. It was the only toilet facility on that floor." While Ernest admits there is probably no original urine left it was still always a big tourist draw, "Many years later when Hendrix was a big star, I certainly always got a thrill using it."

The urinal, which Ernest kept after his hotel was torn down, has always had a place of honor. "We usually kept it in the living room but after my Martha died I moved into the retirement home and have had to keep it in the closet. Oh, everyone gets very excited at the home when I bring it out."
Laura Cossel, of Cossel Auctions, says she expects bidding to start at $300,000. "There's been a huge amount of interest. Imagine, owning the very same urinal Mr. Hendrix pissed in? I get goose bumps just thinking about it." Already enquiries have come in from around the world. Ms. Cossel told this reporter that special interest has been shown from a hotel in Las Vegas. "It's just a rumor but I hear they are creating a Hendrix Suite. It will be filled with all sorts of things he touched, looked at, and thought about during his life. I know they already own a section of sidewalk where he spit."

"I'm sorry to let it go. There'll be no more special wee's for me." Ernest remarked sadly, "I only hope the person who buys it treats it with the same reverence I always have."
